Free Guided Walks by  Experienced Friends Garden Guides

 

Adelaide Botanic Garden Guided Walks  leave from the Schomburgk Pavilion daily at 10.30am and last approximately 1.5 hours.  

Meet at Schomburgk Pavilion

Mt Lofty Botanic Garden Guided Walks Every Thursday 10.30am throughout the year from the Lower Car Park, Lampert Road, Piccadillly. 

 

Bus Groups  at Mt Lofty permitted during Weekdays only - Must have their own bus, maximum size 22 seats.

Must be escorted by Friends guide, phone 8226 8803 to book.

 

 

Wittunga Botanic Garden contains the State's largest collection of South African plants & a fine collection of Australian native plants.  

Walks leave the Car Park, Shepherds Hill Road, Blackwood, every Tuesday 2 August 2011 to 29 November 2011 at 10.30am.

The Garden Guides are a trained group of Friends who take members of the public for free guided walks in the 3 Botanic Gardens -

Adelaide Botanic Garden, Mt Lofty BG & Wittunga BG.

Booked Walks

The Garden Guides also take booked walks for groups of five or more and special interest walks are available. For more information and to book a walk, please telephone the Guides' Booking Officer on (+61 8) 8226 8803.

 

Heat Policy for Guided Walks

Please be aware that if TEMPERATURES ARE FORECASTED TO GO ABOVE 36 Degrees Celsius Guided Walks will be CANCELLED

 

 

Self Guided Walk Leaflets

In addition to taking guided walks, the Guides also prepare a monthly self-guiding trail for each Garden, which can be collected from the Gardens' brochure boxes.

Leaflets are  available in the information boxes in the Botanic Gardens & the Visitor Info Centre. 

To join the Garden Guides
There is an initial training course of one day per week over a 12-week period, followed by assessment walks. The training course covers topics such as presentation skills, history and geography of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide, botany and plant taxonomy.
